The IOR is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Luciano Cascione as Privatdozent (PD) at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), recognizing his scientific and academic contributions to bioinformatics and computational oncology.

Dr. Cascione’s research focuses on understanding B-cell lymphomas through large-scale molecular data. His work integrates genomics, transcriptomics and emerging spatial technologies to investigate how cancer cells interact with their surrounding microenvironment. A central area of his research is MALT lymphoma. Supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, his current research combines spatial transcriptomics and multi-omics technologies to explore the architecture of MALT lymphoma and its tumor microenvironment at unprecedented resolution. As Co-head of the Bioinformatics Core Unit at IOR, Dr. Cascione also works at the interface between biology and computation, developing analytical strategies that enable researchers to extract meaningful information from increasingly complex cancer datasets.
